Youth earns March volunteer honors

Adam WilsonJunior Volunteer Adam Wilson, a resident of the Fountain City area and a Reid volunteer since mid-2005, has been acclaimed Volunteer of the Month for March at Reid Hospital.

Wrote one nominator, "Adam wants everyone to know that if they need anything, all they need to do is let him know. He wants to help in any way he can."

That attitude has brought the 16-year-old a Bronze Medal in ensemble choir, four outstanding achievement awards in home schooling evaluations and a Valentine’s banquet king’s scepter.

"Adam was not a designated volunteer to my department, but he showed up one Thursday evening asking if there was anything he could do," recounts one nomination. "Within minutes, he was assisting with the cash register, pricing merchandise and tackling anything else that could be assigned him."

Wilson, now a Northeastern Junior/Senior High School junior, still stops by every Thursday to check and see if he can assist.

"He has been extremely helpful, and the customers enjoy him too!" reports a colleague.

Writes Wilson, "Thanks to everyone who nominated me for Volunteer of the Month. I urge others to consider becoming volunteers or junior volunteers because the experience is so rewarding."

A member of the Eaton Pike Pentecostal Tabernacle with his parents and younger brother and active in its youth group, Wilson also volunteers as a tour guide at the Levi Coffin House. He is an avocational crooner and comic.
