July Volunteer finds enjoyment, no stranger

Donald G. George, a resident of the Williamsburg, Ind., area has been hailed as the Reid Hospital & Health Care Services Volunteer of the Month for July.

His volunteer history began in Technical Services and on nursing units, and he has worked since January 2006 in Cardiac Rehab, running his total to 775 hours.

“Don is always smiling and has a joke to tell or a practical joke to play on folks,” explained one nominator. “He is open and friendly; he knows no strangers.”

“Don enjoys life and doing things for others,” said another. “He is truly a joy to be around.”

George retired from Belden in 1994 after a 36-year career; he remains a

Little League baseball coach and is active in the Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene.

Son Chris, Tennessee, son Roger, Indianapolis, and daughter Liz Ann, Greensfork, have furnished George “several wonderful grandchildren” for whom his woodworking hobby produces toys and furniture.
