Richmond-area resident Hazel Charlton has been selected Volunteer of the Month for October at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services.
Charlton, who has been volunteering since 2004, assists in the Reid pharmacy. She retired from the Richmond State Hospital in 1997 after 40 years as a Psychiatric Attendant Supervisor; and is a member of the First Baptist Church.
“Hazel is such an asset to our patients and to Reid,” said one nomination. “She is very caring and considerate. She has such a wonderful smile; warm, pleasant and friendly.”
“She is very serious about what she does at Reid; very dependable, open and honest,” states her citation.
Charlton and her husband of 53 years, Onnie, have two daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her favorite activities are spending time at family gatherings, travel, and genealogy studies.
