Security officer named Ambassador of the Year

MIke EmmeneggerSecurity officer Mike Emmenegger was selected Reid Hospital's Ambassador of the Year in a Thursday evening celebration in Wallace Auditorium.

Emmenegger qualified for the honor in 2007 by being acclaimed Ambassador of the Month for February by colleagues, patients and their families. His investiture followed the 35th Annual Appreciation Banquet, which honored Reid team members of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years' standing.

"I'm just lucky to have this," Emmenegger said after his name was drawn from those of the twelve 2007 Ambassadors, "And I'm blessed to be working here, and that's all I have to say."

Reid's yearly Ambassadorship comes with an extra week of vacation and a check for $1,000.

Emmenegger, a seven-year Security department veteran, graduated from Richmond High School in 1983, the same year as his Eagle Scout rank. He and his wife, Keri, live in the Economy area. Their daughter, Meghan, is 2.

"My job has to be one of the best in the hospital," Emmenegger has observed. "Each day brings different opportunities to assist patients, visitors and staff. Being able to work with nearly every department in the hospital, on any given day, is very fulfilling."

The Emmeneggers are members of St. John's Lutheran Church. He has served the Economy Fire Department for five years as a volunteer firefighter.
