Kelly Witter, RN, MSN, has been named Oncology Service line director for Reid Hospital & Health
Care Services. Witter, unit director of Leeds 4 since May 29 last year, replaced Lisa
Arms, RN, Dec. 31, 2007.
"I am very excited about taking this position," Witter said. "This is a wonderful program, and I can't wait to watch it grow."
In making the announcement, Kay Cartwright, Reid's chief nursing officer, noted that Witter has a strong background in patient care and education. She has served as director of Practical Nursing at Great Oaks School of Practical Nursing in Cincinnati.
Cartwright added that Witter will continue as Leeds-4 director pending the appointment of a successor.
Witter has not been a stranger to Reid; she supervised nursing students as a clinical instructor for Ivy Tech at Reid from 2003 to 2006.
Witter completed her associate and bachelor's degrees in nursing in 1998 and 2000 at Indiana University East in Richmond. She also completed a master's degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix and is pursuing a doctoral degree in education.
Witter said to she hoped to make a difference for patients and their families at Reid. She plans to be a role model, she said, and lead the oncology staff to be the patients' educators, mentors, guides and supporters as well caregivers.
"I want our patients to feel that they were treated like royalty," Witter said.
Witter has lived in Union County since she was six years old. She graduated from Union County High School. She and her husband, Anthony, live in Bath, and are parents to two sons, Justin, 7, and Jack, 2. Witter's parents and grandparents and a sister also live in the area.
