Reid Auxiliary sets first auction of items from hospital campus

The Reid Hospital Auxiliary will provide the community a chance to buy a piece of Reid history in a series of three auctions over the next year.

Items that are not being moved to the New Reid campus or kept by the investors who have purchased Reid’s existing campus have been donated to the Auxiliary for sale.  The first auction is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, under a tent on the hospital’s north lot, 1401 Chester Boulevard. Preview time is 9 a.m.

This will be the first of at least three auctions over the next year to sell things such as office furniture, mattresses, tables, filing cabinets and decorations, said Randy Kirk, president of the Reid Hospital Foundation. The Foundation will ultimately benefit from the Auxiliary’s efforts with the funds to be donated to the Foundation to support patient services at Reid.

Kirk said that each auction will offer a progressively bigger inventory as Reid draws closer to completing its move to 1100 Reid Parkway in 2008, right now projected to happen in June.

“We’ve already had inquiries from people interested in buying items that are not being moved to The New Reid,” Kirk said. “These auctions will be their opportunity.”

Koons Auction and Realty Company of Connersville is donating auctioneering services for the first sale, Kirk said. Reid Auxiliary volunteers are coordinating the event and were to offer snacks and food for sale.

Ellie Coffman, Auxiliary president, said her group is excited about leading these events. “After expenses, all proceeds from the auction will be donated to Reid to be used wherever they see the most need,” Coffman said.
