Ambassador plans enlarged health care career

Chrissy BurroughsHaving made herself indispensable as a Critical Care clerk and about to be assigned full-time to the unit's monitor section, September's Ambassador of the Month also has served notice of her commitment to health care by completing the basic arrhythmia class.

Chrissy Burroughs, a resident of the Liberty area who joined the Reid team a bit more than two years ago, has drawn accolades for her positive attitude, quickness and accuracy.

"She goes above and beyond to make everyone else's day go smoothly," wrote one nominator, "always with a smile on her face. Chrissy's smile is unstoppable, and she exemplifies the C.A.R.E principals."

Another noted, "She is friendly and pleasant and always willing to assist whenever and wherever needed."

"Chrissy is a joy to work with and never is out of sorts, even on the most hectic of days," said another colleague. "She is always pleasant in her interactions with patients, their family and staff."

One RN noted that Burroughs early proved highly able at getting orders in and getting the supplies the unit needed, characterizing her as a key team player.

"Chrissy generously and consistently offers assistance to her co-workers," wrote one supervisor. "She has been awarded multiple Shining Stars by her peers."

A graduate of IU East in 2007, Burroughs had begun student teaching when she decided she preferred another career path; she is now enrolled in classes leading to a career in the medical field.

"I truly enjoy every aspect of my job at Reid," Burroughs says, "whether helping the nurses with patients, supporting the doctors or interacting with co-workers from all over the hospital."

"It's the Reid atmosphere," she said.

Burroughs and her husband, David, are the parents of daughter Kaiyd, 9 months. David is an employee of the WBI Paint Co. of Liberty and also works at the Union County Sheriff's Department.
