Ambassador would rather drive than switch

Mary AlexanderOctober’s Ambassador of the Month at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services drew volumes of nominations praising her energy and enthusiasm and one that impressively quantified it.

“Mary would rather drive 75 minutes one-way to a job at Reid than settle for any of the jobs she keeps getting offered closer to home,” wrote one nominator, closing in on the obvious conclusion, “She loves Reid and all the people she works with.”

“She is an outstanding team player; in fact, she is the one you want assigned to your team,” wrote a senior nursing leader.

She is Mary Alexander, Pharmacy operations manager, MAK pioneer and a 10-year Reid pillar of the C.A.R.E. principles, according to her colleagues.

Originally of Paulding, Ohio, and a 1992 graduate of Paulding High School, Alexander completed her pharmacy degree at Ohio Northern University in 1997.

“Tenacity comes to mind when I think of Mary,” reads a terse, memorable nomination. “She has a bright mind and a brighter smile.”

Another of the half-dozen nominations from outside the Pharmacy department judged Alexander a consummate professional with a unique ability to think far outside the box to understand processes and bridge gaps between departments.

“The C.A.R.E. standards are just the tip of the iceberg for Mary,” observed a co-worker. “Her work ethic, personality and talents make her an essential member of our family.”

Alexander and her husband, Rich, a patent attorney employed by Procter and Gamble, are the parents of Lauryn, 3.

Now a resident of the Cincinnati area, her hobbies include biking and photography.

Alexander reports that she loves Reid’s people and mission: “I work with people who are dedicated, enthusiastic, caring and fun.  It is a pleasure to be part of a team that provides such excellent patient care.”
