As a community hospital for nearly a century, Reid Hospital & Health Care Services' mission calls for us to serve the community and its residents with quality, cost-effective services.
Reid hopes that community residents will receive their care at Reid. In turn, Reid endeavors to do business locally and will make every reasonable attempt to purchase from local businesses and contractors both union and non-union alike.
In order to ensure that Reid remain financially viable and continue to serve community residents in the future, Reid must approach its purchase decisions, using sound and reasonable business practices. Reid will base its decisions on the following criteria:
Reid will evaluate purchase decisions on a case-by-case basis, taking into account how we can best fulfill our long-term mission of providing the best possible care at the lowest reasonable cost.
Reid's desire to secure goods and services locally even extends to a willingness to pay more in order to do this. Obviously, there is a threshold beyond which this principle would be unreasonable. The appropriate threshold is generally around 5-10%, although this guideline is subject to concurrent consideration of the other factors.
